| ABOUT THE ARTIST
Leroy von Glan was born and raised a farm boy surrounded by trees, plants and animals on black loam soil. From early childhood on, he has spent his time pursuing creative outlets in many media, with clay being his main source of creativity.
Leroy's work is predominantly constructed of high-fire stoneware featuring functional forms as well as non-classical and novel variations. Functional - with a twist - is the usual objecive of his useful utensil constructions. Sculptural pieces produced are also stoneware, raku or mixed media based. Surreal visions filled with subtle psychological impressions are the basis of inspiration for creating his wallpieces and sculptures.
"My pieces' purpose is to surprise the eye and stimulate the mind. It doesn't matter if the work is utilitarian or decorative in purpose, mundane or fantastic in construction, my pieces are meant to get your thought processes moving. To make the viewer quest for understanding and/or enjoyment is the reason for the work's creation."
